Stormwater has become a challenge due to the rapid and unplanned growth of urban areas, removal of vegetation, reduced effectiveness of drainage infrastructure and the impacts of climate change.

With urban areas experiencing rapid growth and climate change impacts intensifying, effective stormwater management has never been more crucial. Flat roofs are sensitive architectural areas and it is critical to plan their drainage systems professionally.

When rain falls onto a flat roof, large volumes of water can collect rapidly. Unless there is an effective way of draining off precipitation, this can lead to excess loads being placed on the building's structure. ACO offers functional solutions which are specially designed for flat roof areas and which ensure the water is drained effectively.

For smaller surfaces, gravity drainage systems are the ideal solution. For larger roofs, siphonic drainage systems should be installed. One gully can drain at least 150 m². Our Application Technology department can assist you in designing the correct drainage for your application and in carrying out the isometric calculations for your siphonic drainage system.

The DSA identifies drainage issues found and describes their impact on production from the point of view of Hygiene, Safety (employee health and safety, and product safety risks) and Operations (operational continuity risks). The ACO Drainage System Assessment comprises a complex evaluation of the existing drainage system and surrounding environment including production and service technologies and its impact on potential risks within food processing plants. This evaluation also covers risks arising from drainage integration, and floor and wall quality.

The building information modelling BIM represents digital transformation in construction and can effectively prevent the often insufficient flow of information in construction projects and the resulting misunderstandings and errors. The open, digital exchange of the relevant data of the construction project ensures that all stakeholders get access to the information about the project. The data is available throughout the entire lifespan of the building - from the idea, over the entire operation, to the dismantling.

The innovative ACO ShowerDrain S+ surprises with its simplicity as it designed with all installation phases in mind making the installation process simple, safe and convenient from start to finish. Convenient packaging simplifies the on-site logistics. Height adjustment is carried out by means of plastic screws, which can shorten without any extra tools. The product offers toolless removal of the unused edge for installation directly on the wall. Preassembled waterproofing membrane ensures reliable compound sealing. No additional work for floor tiles up to a height of 10 mm.

Until now, no proper study or research has taken place to investigate the behaviour of common floor-drainage connections and develop a precise design guideline. As a result, Sika – a market-leading resin flooring company, and ACO - a leader in the development and manufacture of hygienic drainage systems, joined forces and adopted a professional and scientific approach to this issue. A three year study and research program was commissioned to provide a clear evidence-based guidance with regard to flooring-drainage connections for factory and processing facility operators.
